What a wonderful place to visit. It was a fantastic morning out with beautiful views on the way. On arrival, you MUST register your vehicle on the screen at the entrance or risk facing a £100 fine. The owners and staff were very helpful and knowledgeable without being pushy. You can buy tickets online or on arrival. Before going into the caverns, you are shown an information film. Hard hats are mandatory as there are quite a few low areas. You must be physically fit as there are lots of uneven steps to negotiate. It is cold and wet down there, so sturdy footwear and warm clothing is required. A great setup below ground and the tour takes around 50 minutes to an hour. Personal guided tours can be booked separately. There is a nice cafe for snacks, drinks etc. There is also a very nicely laid out gift shop. Strong enthasis is made on education for children. Please DO visit this wonderful part of Yorkshire soon.

Fascinating caves with good setup. Recommend getting the guide with audio guide to make it last a little longer and learn more.

We were unable to book online for our family of 5. 3 kids and 2 adults and had to email in to book as we were unable to add another child to a family ticket, which was somewhat frustrating. We were due to attend a fossil dig during the half term along with going into the caves. The confirmation email had the wrong time so we missed the fossil dig which was VERY FRUSTRATING as the children were very excited. However we were offered the space workshop instead. I was dubious as the kids don't have an interest in this, however the kids LOVED it!! Honestly I couldn't recommend it enough. It was fun, interactive and they came away with some amazing things. The gentleman running the course was knowledgeable, fun and engaging.

Really enjoyed our visit today, the staff are really friendly and really knowledgeable. Loved exploring the caves and the kids loved the fossil dig and taking home some little gems and fossils. Also had lunch in the cafe which was delicious. Excellent value for money and we will definitely be back in the future.

A nice place to visit. Once down the steps the access around the cave was good. Nice to be able to wander around in your own time with the UV torch and map.

Didn’t have time for the caverns sadly. Went for a lovely lunch after a nearby hike. The atmosphere was great. The staff were super friendly and really efficient despite it being a busy Saturday lunchtime. The food was amazing and the hot chocolates and coffees were top notch! I had a tuna melt and my mum had a bacon, Brie and cranberry panini. Both were very very good. Lovely gift shop. We will definitely be returning!

This place popped up on Google maps and looked really interesting so I decided to pay a visit and it didn't disappoint. Great information before entering the caves from the staff, then it's just a case of putting on your hard hat, heading down the stairs and you are in. Some spectacular sights to see. Some narrow and low places to get through but it all adds to the adventure. I didn't visit the coffee shop after I returned to the surface but it looked really nice and the gift shop was full of great things. All in all an amazing day out and I will return in the future. Highly recommend.👍

Really nice place to visit for a couple of hours. We went on a freezing cold winters day and it wasn't too busy. The car parking is free, but you have to register your car registration number on your way in, which is simple. The visitor centre cafe is lovely with some amazing clocks, lighting and a welcome open fire. Staff are friendly and helpful. Watch out for the difference between time slots to book to go down- for some slots the caves are well lit, and some are darker. We prebooked tickets online from a different website and it was slightly cheaper than paying on arrival. The video before going down to the cave was informative and captivating. A hard hat and uv torch are provided. There are few steep steps down to the main caverns. There's lots for kids to watch out for. You can't get lost as it's just a couple of caves to explore and are gven a map. Parts of it you do need to stoop and walk as ceilings are low, so be aware if you have any mobility issues. The hard hat got quite a fee smacks! Parts are also narrow, and I was glad it was quiet as I imagine it would be slow going in busy times, waiting for people to pass. The uv torch (during the lit up time we were there) was useful for looking into the dark areas but don't expect to see anything dazzling- I believe the uv just protects microbes from light damage (no camera flash allowed). There's a gift shop on exit and good, clean toilet facilities. All in all a fun couple of hours!

Great place, we went around 1330 and was a very interesting place, my son aged 12 absolutely loved it, they provided safety hats and torches, if you have mobility problems it's not advisable as there is quite alot of bending down and steps, uneven flooring.. it is a cave so it can't be helped and is part and parcel of a cave. Over all it's a great place to visit!

An Unforgettable Adventure at Stump Cross Caverns! Where do I even begin? Our visit to Stump Cross Caverns was simply incredible from start to finish! From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel so welcome by the lovely Nick and Lisa. A huge shoutout to the amazing Nick and Lisa, who went above and beyond to make our stay extra special—they are absolute stars! Their warmth, kindness, and knowledge made this such a memorable trip for our whole family. We stayed in the on-site caravan, and it was such a treat! Even though it was the middle of winter, it was warm, cosy, and just perfect. It felt like our little haven, and the kids were absolutely thrilled with how fun it was. Every detail was spot on, and we felt so at home. Now, let’s talk about the caves—wow, they were absolutely breathtaking. So beautifully preserved and wonderfully interactive, they captured everyone’s attention, kids and adults alike. The UV light session was a definite highlight for us. Seeing the formations glow in the dark was magical! The kids were fascinated, and so were we—it’s not every day you get to explore a cave that feels so otherworldly. And I can’t forget to mention the café—it was fabulous! We enjoyed a feast of a meat focaccia, a jumbo sausage roll, and a cheese and tomato toastie—all absolutely delicious. The kids loved the variety of ice cream (so many flavours to choose from!), and the coffee? Perfection! As someone who’s very picky about coffee, I have to say, they nailed it. This was our first trip to Yorkshire, and we couldn’t have asked for a better introduction. Everyone we met was so friendly and welcoming—it made the whole experience even more special. Stump Cross Caverns isn’t just a place to visit; it’s a place to make wonderful memories. To Nick, Lisa, and the rest of the fantastic team—thank you from the bottom of our hearts for such a magical experience. We’re already planning our next visit, and we can’t wait to come back for more fun, adventure, and (of course) coffee! We had such a wonderful day celebrating our 4 year old grandson's birthday. The staff are all brilliant, the cafe provided a tasty birthday buffet in a 'pod'... and the caves are just magical. Best ever Santa and Elf. Altogether excellent, tge whole family gave it 5 stars - and it's lovely that it's an incredibly well run family run business.
